- Understand the relevant patterns of supply chain activity through data analysis and/or modelling
- Use a facilitative project management approach to develop strategy which combines:
- Management's knowledge of the business and the problem with
- the analysis, experience and templates that we can bring to the situation.
By developing a strategic response with a combined Client/Carpenter Ellis team early buy-in, and thus implementation success, is much more likely than with a pre-packaged set of consultant’s recommendations.
The principles behind this approach are still relevant in many smaller projects, but the practicalities often require a shorter, sharper focus on the specific problem.

Why 'Market Focused'?
Customers experience the output of supply chain activity – they rarely distinguish between product and service – they assess the ‘package’ or total experience and how well it meets their expectations.
Expectations vary however – so a generic service offering is unlikely to satisfy all customers. Segments of customers may require different service packages to tailor the ‘product’ to the way they buy. We consider that understanding the key differences in customer behaviour is critical to designing a supply chain or set of supply chains which are both market effective and cost effective.
